In today’s difficult economic times, many animal rescues are struggling with fewer adoptions, and an influx of family dog surrenders from people who are losing their homes, or simply no longer able to afford the cost of owning a dog.
As many of these rescues rely entirely on donations to fund their efforts, donations which have slowed substantially over the recent year, i Love Dogs, Inc. wants to help ensure that rescue dogs stay happy and healthy until they are adopted, and help reduce the need for expensive veterinary treatments that many rescue dogs require.
This summer, i Love Dogs will be donating $2 million dollars worth of premium canine vitamins & supplements to non-profit animal shelters and rescues that are in need. We will be kicking off our “season of giving” with a donation of over $1 million worth of vitamins & supplements to several local rescues—Karma Rescue, Linda Blair Worldheart Foundation, Animals Rule, Cage Free K-9 Rescue, Boxer Rescue LA, Downtown Dog Rescue, Noah’s Bark, Southern California Labrador Retriever Rescue, Boxer OC Animal Rescue, Border Collies In Need, Marley’s Pit Stop, Rover Rescue and Best Friends Animal Society—to help advance and maintain the health of the organizations’ dogs while they’re waiting to find their forever homes. We will also be making a large donation to Last Chance for Animals, an organization that rescued close to 200 dogs from a hoarding situation in Mojave, CA on May 21.
We will be holding a press conference on “pick-up day”—Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 11:00 a.m.—to raise publicity for the rescue groups and help increase awareness about the health needs of rescue dogs. The event will be held at the i Love Dogs office, 3043 Kashiwa St., Torrance, CA 90505.
